Here's a comic I made this morning about musical seahorses, parenthood, and taking routine experiences for granted, until the day those experiences are gone, never to return.
Sneak peeks of COME AGAIN: steamy, dreamy, secret horrors.
My new graphic novel Come Again will be out in comic shops on July 4th, and in bookstores/online on July 31st-- until then, I'll be teasing out some images into its luminous moments and darker corners alike.
(here's an Amazon pre-order link, if that's your thing.)
Please follow me on Instagram and Twitter for more-- thanks so much!
Starred review for COME AGAIN in Publishers Weekly!
I'm thrilled to find that Come Again got a starred review in Publishers Weekly-- and it's still a little surreal to me that this story's beginning to spill out into a world of readers, and it's no longer something that just exists in my heart:
"Rendered in fluid, magical brushwork tinted in the colors of a sunrise and filled with mysterious shadows and crannies... this enchanting solo effort reveals even greater depths to Powell’s gift for visual storytelling and creating appealing, human characters."
Out from Top Shelf in July! You can pre-order from Amazon here, or better, pre-order with your local comics shop to get it a few weeks early with a signed bookplate!

Eisner Award nomination for "Awaiting A Wave"!
Wow, I'm blown away to be nominated for the Eisner Award for Best Webcomic for "Awaiting A Wave", my collaboration with Dale Carpenter for The Weather Channel!
Thanks so much to Dale for his journalism skills and his willingness to take a chance on the medium of comics. And especially thanks to everyone interviewed for their time, energy, activism, and openness-- we hope this continued exposure helps bring the situation on the Marshall Islands into greater relief, and helps provide a more complete, representative portrait of Arkansas and America as a whole.
You can read the comic here-- please spread the word, and vote here if you're able. Thanks!
Brad Meltzer's I AM GANDHI!
I had the honor of collaborating with Brad Meltzer on I Am Gandhi, out May 8th from Dial Books (Penguin/Random House)! Proceeds go to Seeds Of Peace, furthering Gandhi's mission.
I drew 4 pages and the endpapers, and am joined by the fantastic talents of Arthur Adams, Bill Sienkiewicz, Gene Ha, John Cassaday, Phil Jimenez, Alex Maleev, David Mack, and more!
You can order the book here. Thanks!
Next up: TWO DEAD.
All right, Come Again is a wrap (and out in July from Top Shelf) and so are my Run pages.
Next up, another book with roots from *before* I started drawing the March trilogy: TWO DEAD, written by my good friend Van Jensen (James Bond: Casino Royale, Cryptocracy, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Flash, Green Lantern, Pinocchio Vampire Slayer) and set in my hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas in 1946.
I have 116 pages penciled and lettered, with another 150 or so to go. This thing is gonna be a beast! Trying hard for a 2019 release from Gallery 13-- stay tuned for updates!

No longer shipping mailorder worldwide
Hi everybody!
For the time being, I'm discontinuing worldwide mailorder, and will ONLY be doing direct mailorders to the US and Canada.
Recently I've discovered that international postal rates for books has doubled (and sometimes more!) for a number of countries, often with recently privatized postal systems. I don't think anyone should be paying $60-$90 for a signed book by me, so I've removed the international option for now, and will be researching any better alternatives. In the meantime, ALL of my books are readily available worldwide through bookstores, comic book shops, and yep, Amazon.
I will be honoring and fulfilling ALL direct mailorders made previous to this date-- so no worries, my intercontinental friends!
NYC-- MARCH art exhibit reception this Thursday 3/1!
New York City folks-- see you this Thursday, March 1st for a public reception of a huge March art exhibit at the Society Of Illustrators (128 E. 63rd) from 6-9pm. 150 pages on two floors!
The show will continue through June 30th, so swing by anytime if you can't make it this week.
Thanks-- spread the word, and I hope to see you there!
MARCH journals, postcard sets, and pin sets available!
I'm not into licensed merchandise, but my collaborators and I are very impressed by the folks at Chronicle Books, and their push to design these bad boys to be inherently action-oriented. Stuff to carry your own concerns forward, organize, keep up the pressure, stay loud, stay together.
I'm selling all this stuff as one combo pack-- order directly from me here:
*March 200-page hardcover journal w/ additional essays, excerpts from the trilogy, historical contexts, and handy contact-and-action points for your elected officials.
*March 30-postcard set w/ even more essays, excerpts, and context.
*March 2-pin set-- one emblazoned with the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the other reading "Good Trouble / Necessary Trouble".
Anyway, these are $45 retail, so here they are a bit cheaper. Change will never come from commodifying activism-- but these are tools, as are the books themselves. I dig em.
JOHN LEWIS AND "MARCH" ON ARTHUR!
Check out the new Arthur episode, "Arthur Takes A Stand", in which the title character organizes school boycotts and sit-ins to protest unfair working conditions, along with a guest appearance by the man himself, John Lewis, and a shout-out to March!
I'm so proud of this moment. We need to prepare our kids for the necessity of activism and risk. Can't wait to show the episode to my children!
COME AGAIN cover debut + pre-orders!
I'm proud to unveil the cover of my forthcoming graphic novel, Come Again-- it'll be released by Top Shelf/IDW in July, debuting at San Diego Comic Con!
"As the sun sets on the 1970s, the spirit of the Love Generation still lingers among the aging hippies of one “intentional community” high in the Ozarks. But what’s missing? Under impossibly close scrutiny, two families wrestle with long-repressed secrets… while deep within those Arkansas hills, something monstrous stirs, ready to feast on village whispers. National Book Award winner Nate Powell returns with a haunting tale of intimacy, guilt, and collective amnesia."
I'm taking direct pre-orders now-- all copies from me will be signed and sketched!
Here's Top Shelf's listing for info and orders, and here's an Amazon pre-order link.
Thanks for your support. This is absolutely my favorite book I've ever made, and I'm so eager for it to see the light of day.

COME AGAIN is done!
At long last, I'm done drawing Come Again! It's been 7 years of work amidst 1 marriage, 2 kids, 3 houses, 4 pets, and 5 or 6 books along the way.
This is my favorite book I've ever made, and I'm looking forward to having it out in the world-- I'll be doing a slideshow talk about the book's path and influences on February 11th at the American Library Association's Midwinter Conference in Denver, CO, and should be publicly revealing the cover around the same time.
Come Again will debut from Top Shelf/IDW on July 19th at Comic-Con International in San Diego-- I'll be there all weekend to sign, and have a bunch of travels lined up for the rest of the year as the book hits the stands. See you there, and stay tuned for more!
